As far as I knew, she's agnostic, but these replies makes me doubt about it actually!

In one song, "Heart Station", she says:
"Kamisama dake ga shitte iru" (Only God knows)...

But which conception of God? Now that's a good question to ask for! But it prepared to assume that she, at least, believes in God?
She's not like all of those stars who clearly states her beliefs with precise sentences or something... That's why according to me, it's quite hard to define that!

I suppose the best thing we could do is looking for way to ask her, maybe through interviews or, let's get crazy, face to face!

For all we know that could just be metaphorical, though. Personally, I kind of hope she isn't so delusional as to be religious in any way, but then it doesn't really matter. The beauty of her voice and music is second to none either way.

I don't really see why it matters what religion Hikki follows, if any.. I also don't see why someone doesn't want her to be religious. Religion is a personal choice, and as long as they aren't ramming their views down your throat I don't see why it would affect you.

Why don't one of you just ask her on Twitter?

It could satisfy curiosity one might assume. Rumor has it, members on a fansite of any artist are quite curious about the person.

Religious people are delusional. They believe in claims with no merits made by other delusional or actually intentionally deceiving human beings. I wouldn't want anyone to be delusional. Hence, I wouldn't want her to be religious. Frankly, if I found out she was, I would not think any less of her.

She has nearly a million followers so the odds of her even seeing the tweet are rather...... ;)

You can truly understand the real depths of a song's meaning only when you deeply know the person who wrote it, according to me, obviously. Whether it's about beliefs or else "way of life", or even about past. Maybe some songs would appear more clear about the personal meaning to her if we could know a little more about her beliefs even if, I admit there's absolutely nothing that would change about the beauty of her voice of course!

Yeah, it might be crazy if she would see a tweet so random among several thousand others!

I know they are curious, and I never said that was wrong. I said I don't see why it matters. People here are a fan of Utada Hikaru, someone who creates MUSIC. They did not really come here because they are solely fans of her personality, beliefs, etc. It's just an added bonus that Hikki seems to be a really cool person. That being said, I believe it doesn't matter because people shouldn't draw their opinions on someone who is famous based on their personal life, rather than their craft and the work they create. And I know most here are just curious, but sadly there may be some people ignorant enough to let her beliefs sway their opinions of her.

Also, religious people are not delusional. Sure, there is no proof of God, but there isn't any proof that God isn't real, either.

Who is to say that the big bang/evolution wasn't caused by some all mighty power or some shit? The bible and other religious texts are chalked full of symbolism and metaphors (kinda how you think that the "Only God knows.." lyric is a metaphor.. Okay? What is that a metaphor for?). People are allowed to believe in whatever they want to. I myself am not religious, but for you to say that someone's own individual views on the world around them (and perhaps beyond?) is delusional of you, thinking you have the right to determine that. Were you alive, thousands of years ago to know what happened, and what didn't? What seems ignorant/bad or delusional to you, might be a comforting thought to one, and of course vice versa. Most religious people have good morals and ethics, thus live good lives. Since when was it delusional to be kind to others, and live decently? Just because some people are corrupt and alter "God" or some deities to feel that their personal views, for instance Christians/Catholics (abortion, same-sex marriage, etc.) are right, does not mean everyone feels/does the same thing. Not all people who follow a religion share the same views of the hateful people that you may have come to know. Don't paint everyone with the same brush...

You wouldn't think any less of her? Just that she's delusional right? Yeah, that's TOTALLY not thinking any less of someone.

Have you not seen some of the things she has RT, or replied to? They are all very random. Who is to say she won't see it and/or reply? It's just about chance and luck. And I'm pretty sure a million people aren't tweeting at her all day, everyday.

And I'm telling you it matters to some people because the knowledge would satisfy their curiousity (at least for a time). So, in other words, I'm telling you why it matters because you said you don't see why. My wording was quite sarcastic but the intention behind that was playful rather than harmful. I didn't argue your opinion on the matter.

There is no evidence whatsoever that suggests the existence of any deity. Neither is there any evidence supporting any religion in general. On the contrary, any and all "evidence" brought up by cult followers continues to be dismissed as no actual evidence by the scientific community. So, acknowledging the possibility of the existance of, for instance, god is one thing, but actually believing in him is delusional.

Nowhere did I say that I think it is meant to be a metaphor. I said it could be. Just to answer your question though, from an atheist perspective 'only god knows' would most certainly be a metaphor for 'nobody knows' or 'no one knows'.

Okay, let me clarify. What I'm saying is believing in any religion is delusional. I'm not saying religious people are delusional in every aspect of their lives and all their views are wrong, and I'm certainly not judging their morals or ethics.

You're writing style is quite aggressive. If finding out someone's view on something was delusional would lower your oppinion of them, that's your thing, but don't put me on the same boat. When I say "I would not think any less of her" it's probably best to assume that is exactly what I mean, just for ease of conversation. Or we can go ahead and both question everything the other says and declare it a lie, but I believe conversation would be quite difficult if we did that.

Just in the last hour @utadahikaru has been mentioned 11 times, that is one tweet every 5.45 minutes. Earlier it was 14 tweets an hour (one every 4.29 minutes) and 21 tweets an hour (one every 2.86 minutes). Now how many times does she reply or RT an hour? a day? Are you familiar with the concept of statistics and chance? "They are all very random." and "It's just about chance and luck." is exactly my point. Generally though, if I actually cared about her religious views I would ask her, since it only takes a couple seconds to tweet, but I honestly wouldn't expect a reply. ;)

It feels like we're treading on dangerous topics here. Religion is a good way to incite a flame war.

it is just like how we worship her...

it doesn't matter what or which religion she worships... religion is supposed to be a guide for humankind anyways and as long her moral compass is pointing towards the right direction... not really a bad thing, really...
