how to do utada's "chorus voice" effect

hello guys

i was playing around with garageband, and been singing along to karaoke versions of different songs its so fun hehehe. ofcourse i would do a sing-along version of utada too.

in her songs, i just noticed that at the chorus parts her voice seems to have this "thick, digital, choir-ish" sound to it. a good example of this is her song Traveling, pay attention to her voice in the parts of "ooh, ooh, oooh" and the "traaaveling...traaaveling"

do you guys know how to achieve that? in garageband? or any other software? utada does not have backup singers, so she sings everything by herself, so she must be just applying some digital effects to her voice. would you guys know how to do that?

I don't think it's any voice effect. If you listen to Kremlin Dusk, for example, you can clearly hear another track playing, so I think it's the chorus that is in the album.
And, if you listen to the 'karaoke versions' from her singles you will hear that kind of choruses, so I think it's pretty clear.

Edit: (I meant in live perfomances, sorry, I thought you weren't talking about studio effects )

By studio voice you mean a song as its released on a CD right?

If so, then I'd have to go with her studio voice

To the OP

I hear what you are talking about... I never listened hard enough to hear it. Well her vocal has definitely been put through a digital distortion thingie. I hear it. Uhm... I don't know if you can do it with regular equipment, I think you must have something extra to do that with your voice. I forgot what those pedal things are that guitarists use, but one of those for a computer might help you. But her voice sounds cool in traveling...
