That's not in contention. What's confusing is that she pronounced two names completely differently while trying to argue that they sound the same.

Again, I don't think it's a big deal, and she really just wanted to underscore that there's no "y" sound at the beginning of her name. It's just funny/curious is all.

Haha that was very enjoyable. Maybe she didn't think of it properly but I understand how she can get a bit annoyed if people couldn't pronounce my name correctly. No one can pronounce my nickname properly, I have to correct them to.

Hikki's so cute! And I get the "name" thing. Funny when she said that.

I suppose that would make sense if she actually pronounced it that way in the vid. She pretty clearly said "Oh-bama," which doesn't sound like "ooo-tada," which was how she herself pronounced it in the same sentence.

...or is this like the "l" and "r" thing and those who primarily speak Japanese have a hard time telling the difference?

Only....

It's NOT pronounced 'Otada!' 'Otada' would sound like "Oh-tada," which is simply not the case. It's pronounced, "ooo-tada."

In the video she says, "It's ooo-tada, like Oh-bama!" which doesn't make sense because they don't sound alike, even when she just said it right there but hey it's no biggie, just a poor analogy.

Btw she said how to pronounce her name was U-Tada like O-bama not You-tada

Which is funny because that doesn't make the slightest bit of sense!

- She wants the correct pronunciation, which is of course "Ooo-Tada"

- "U-Tada" would sound like "You-Tada" which is exactly what she's complaining about

- "Obama" is pronounced "Oh-Bama"

- "Utada" is not prounounced "Oh-Tada"

Oh well! It was just an off the cuff remark haha.

wat she is tryin to say is that her name is pronounced with a O not U, thats i get exactly wat she is tryin to say and i just love she finally tell the world, that her name is pronounced otada not youtada......

It's not hard to pronounce her name, it's just Americans especially are kind of used to words beginning with "U" to sound like "you." For instance, "united" is "you-nited."
