His Japanese isn't great, really harsh and forced. Personally i find this cover horrible.

COOL!
On his blog post, he says he actually got a message from Hikki giving a positive reaction to his covers

Quote:
「ありがとうとーー!きーみに!いわれーるとー!なんだーかせつなーーーい!」って、全然せつなくねぇ~!(笑)だが、それがいい。ーーー宇多田ヒカル

Basically saying Thank you and its good

I actually kinda like it (I do like Rock though, actually leaning more to J-Rock), it's a nice cover.

It got approval from Utada, kinda, reading from the blog entry. True, what she pointed out though XD

EDIT: looked him up on Youtube...I fell in love. Some of his covers sound awkward but some work so well. I think his cover of First Love is so-so though, the music's nice though. Listen to the other covers ^^

I agree with you. Personally, I hate rock music with a passion, but this cover is nice. The only thing that is a problem is the voice. It's not bad but it's...odd. Either way, I will definitely be listening to this often.

Well actually i'm not a big fans or rock-ish music genre style , but i have to appreciated him make a different cover of "Flavor of Life" even though my brain will stay in love with the original one.
Just for fun listening to his cover

Well head banger Scott with a combination of violent head movements and obligatory sign of the horns hand gestures ended up giving Hikki ?Flavor of Life? concussion ?..

Were you not around when Utada released "Flavor of Life"? "Flavor of Life" is origionally happy and upbeat sounding (not talking about the lyrics).

As for the cover:
why try making it just like the origional? That defeats the purpose of actually covering it and making it your own. If you want an emotional version, go listen to Utada's.

Yes, I heard of Utada back then.

No, I wasn't around. I only heard of Simple and Clean during that time, and this was the 2nd Utada song I heard.
