Babelfish translations - DON'T USE THEM!

Posted by Q on 2004/4/26 2:02:10
Babelfish is a popular language translation tool on the internet, but babelfish engine translations of Japanese is increadibly horrible.

Please do not post translations of Japanese articles or messages done by the Babelfish engine. They are more confusing then helpful.

Try other translations engines out there and see if you can get better results and let us know.
As time goes by, we'll hopefully have better suggestions for Japanese language translations tools here.

I use www.worldlingo.com myself. Well I typed in some english to translate into spanish (don't know Japanese) and it wasn't as bad as Bablefish. It might be one of the best translation sites out there.

BabelFish's amusement factor is unrivaled, and considering the source of the name, that's a good thing.

Every last one of you should read Douglas Adams' masterpiece, the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Trilogy (of 5 books). ^^

I just discovered this week, when using Google to arrive at a Japanese department store webpage, that I could request a translation of the webpage. It took a long time, and it read in English word for word like it was written in Japanese, but it proved very useful to me. First, you search with GOOGLE. Then, you can Translate. How convenient!
