I don't mean to try to embarass this person, but I'm pasting this because this is a textbook example of how we DON'T want to handle phone requests, even though it turned out ok in the end. This poor person (1) Had a friend from out of the area call the station, (2) Called the station again right away even though they already said they didn't have the song, and (3) Pestered and annoyed the DJ to the point that the DJ thought the caller was a paid Island staffer!

This type of behavior can hurt the song's chances with that station. Just remember to never call a station out of your area, and that it's best to wait until the station has at least played the song once (it'll be on our list here at the site when it does) before calling. If you decide you can't wait and want to call anyway, then simply ask if they have the song yet, if they say yes, then great, if they say no, then simply thank them and say you were just checking. No fuss.

Of course always be polite as possible! DJs get many, many calls a day and might be easy to get irritable, lol. Everybody be on our best behavior and make requesting go smoothly and fun!

That's so great to hear about fans being able to request and hear Utada on the radio, probably for the first time!

Yes, also because CBTM had just now been sent for official airplay so I wouldn't pester them with lots of requests at the moment because the song is still generally unknown. Once the video gets release she'll gain a lot more attention.
