Yes, it is that time of Chinese New Year again, isn't it? What Year is this the Year Of, anybody know? I should Google it, I know, but am lazy. Time to remember happier days, when I was getting married to my lovely bride in Manilla, The Phillipines, the Lovely Hu Lin, from China. Her Dad went around the world building bridges in foreign countries for Chinese government. She moved to California, and I think later to Texas. Sometimes, I wonder if she was somehow related to The Big Mister Hu in China. You know who I mean? Two cars with Chinese guys swooped up even with me on the highway as I was driving, a week before she arrived in United States, hung parallel to me for a minute or two - "Hey pal, get the message? We're watching you!" and then both zoomed off ahead of me, speeding away. Do you think they were messaging me somehow? At my suggestion, the Chinese bought the City of Milan Italian shoe lasts for several tens of millions of dollars. Good investment. I think I met a guy at our wedding, who sold computers to the Chinese government for a precursor company to Lenovo IBM. We had at least three multi-millionaires attending, but none of their wealth every rubbed off on me. Too bad, really. Have you heard this aphorism? They say the first million is the hardest to make, and I believe them now. Also, "It takes some (money) to make some (money.) I wish I grew up smarter about money, myself. I am licensed to sell people insurance, but I don't like to, because I don't like to see them writing checks to corporations. Keep your money, earn it, save it, invest it. Start your own business, I say. Working for red tape people in corporations and call centers is not a happy life. Maybe I should get a government job? Stand for elections? Start my own religion? Get a Ponzi scheme rolling? Sell stuff on e-Bay? On Craig's List? I know -- I will start my own good cause, cure a disease, non-profit "Foundation" and do it "for the children." Did you hear in today's news, British scientists found a way to create new human life using two women and one man? They switch the mitochondria out, which is minor, but it prevents serious inheritable diseases. Sounds promising, but this is just the beginning. It's already a "Brave New World" out there, as Aldous Huxley titled his novel. And FINITO.
