I went to the L.A. event and it was highly unorganized, but seriously fun. The way it was set up time-wise, there was no opportunity to have her sign anything individually (if I were you, I would bring an album or something just in case).
She spent the first half of her time talking about her album, and cutely singing along while they played it for the audience  , and the latter half taking pictures. After we got our pictures taken, they passed out pre-autographed photos and a makeup case with an Utada emblem on it.The way today's event was set up, those who made reservations were put on a printed-out list, and received wristbands. The people with wristbands got priority entrance and anyone without one got in through luck. In case it's set up the same in New York, I would try and get there as early as possible (I'd wager there were over 2000 people there and some people were waiting for 12 hours!) and talk to the people handling the wristbands (they were in the front). They made a wait-list for wristband pickup for those who didn't make an appointment or reservation, and if you were nice enough, they even just gave you and your party the wristbands on the spot. Then, you just gotta wait in line with other wristband-brandishing folks. It was amazing. Good luck to everyone going tomorrow. |

Anyway, the key is definitely to BE THERE EARLY and be ready to beg for entrance if you haven't RSVP'd. Also be ready to remind the Sephora folks if you HAVE RSVP'd, because it seems they don't tend to remember (I was lucky). Be polite and nice and they'll probably return the favor, but don't be afraid to approach the people to find out what's going on. I had to do that several times throughout the night. Hopefully the NYC event will be more organized than LA was, at any rate. Anyway, it was definitely an extraordinary hour or so. Just don't be surprised if Utada makes a late entrance and an early exit, like she did tonight. I really had no idea how unorganized the event was. But I can vaguely imagine it. I was touched with Hikki's blogpost at u3music where she apologized. Ugh, and it makes me jealous of you guys who was able to see Utada though didn't had the chance to be near her.

Went to the Hollywood event as well. Extremely unorganized. I got in, got some photos and video, but didn't meet her. She left at 7:40 and left the crowd confused. You guys in NY are lucky, your event will be more prepared, and I assume more people will get to meet her. Also, she has a day in between the NY and FL events, so I think she will stay till 8pm, maybe even longer. LA was just the guinea pig to be experimented on.
