@swallowtail: really its just more like practice and practice and go with your gut feeling D: of course there's the standard of color theory, but its more of practical practice.

It was my weakness for the longest time ;A; but i knew i had to just jump in and do it, i've only been coloring seriously last summer D: before i would just blaaaa color very simply for a school assignment D: and up till then i was working with monotone/gray(white black) type P:

Oh I see, actually i'm always difficult to draw an animal, somehow most my animal draw not proportional animal really hard to draw than human. Any trick to draw animal ?

i guess the only real trick is to practice and use a lot of references, because even i use references, but once you are comfortable drawing a certain creature, lets say a horse or something, than switching to a cow/bull can be a little bit easier because they are 4 legged hoofed mammal, only differences is that there are exaggerations of the chest area and etc.

But yaaa i guess animals are hard D:
