I don't know about Lyra brand but usually oil pastels come in the softer ones where its chunky feel and smooth and the harcd oil pastels which is almost chalk like. And it depends on how you use it and what you tend to like doing. If you're a blendy type person like me, i usually like the softer pastels since it gives me a better leeway to mix different types, but its still chunky so its hard to blend as i like. Hard pastels i think you can still use it but i don't seem as fond of it but i still use that on top of my softer ones XD so you can go ahead and apply it straight on or you can try experimenting them to see what you like and what you'll do with it. Hope this helps xD

another scene for our 2min animation thesis in school.. as always.. using Alias Maya version 7... modeled and textured by me... the gears are all rotating and the robot character is also moving.. ill post that vid when our demo for an event is done..(not the actual thesis)

from my previous bar image (rendered in 3d also..) this is it's steampunk version.. u see.. our instructor said that i should remodel and retexture it coz its not well done... so here it is.. i remake this scene from scratch....

the first pic was my robot's home and he's working for a clocktower in the story.

all the textures i used are all scratchy, grunge and rusty because it is based on a steampunk genre hehe! and yeah ur right! the waiters are all robots but they dont sell oils hahahaha
