Yes, I posted some Chinese video web server sites with New Year's Fireworks earlier. Also, I paid attention tonight and learned on television that 2008 equals The Year of the Rat. Chinese consider the Rat to be a most industrious and auspicious animal. People born in a "Year of the Rat" such as 2008 are Inventive, Creative, Charming, and Prone towards accumulation of wealth / riches, as these fortunate people have an aptitude for recognizing a good bargain or value when they come across it. Without even researching the year of my own birth: 1954, I know it was not "Year of the Rat".

mahjong seems...difficult for me * ^ * i sorta get the gist of it but *phew* the chracters and stuff on the pieces are a little confusing lol.

yes. most filipino celebrates it. specially in "china town" (binondo manila) wherein there are many 'chinoys -- chinese/filipino*pinoy*'

there are plenty of fireworks display around manila and makati whenever chinese new year arrives
