I suspect they make the list based on who the publisher of the magazine is linked to financially, or some arbitrary radio playlist made by a record company...something like that. Miley Cyrus, Jesus.

UtadaHikarugadaisukidesu but can you really say she is the best singer? She's talented, creative, intelligent, passionate... but as far as singing goes few can be better than Celine Dion. I don't like Celine Dion or rather I don't like her singing style, but I have to admit that a 5 octave range is hard to beat. That being said I would say she is a better artist than celine dion because there is more to being an artist than just singing.

Well, I'm a really big Hikki fan, but I can't say that she's the best singer in the world.

I wouldn't pay much mind to it. I once saw a list of the 100 "Greatest" guitarists in the world. Hilary Duff was on it...
Anyway, like somebody said, there is much more to being an artist then singing. I think that Utada's skills in the area of music composition exceed her ability to sing. And I think that there are a great amount of skilled singers in the world then skilled composers. Atleast, that's my personal opinion.

I think it's cool that she's the #1 when even more world famous Britney and Auguilera is on the same. You'd think ppl'd vote for them because they hear so much more about/from them

Ah, well, they got the #1 right! xD

But, yeah, I don't really think she's THE BEST, everyone has opinions, but she's my favorite artist :)

Hikki and Marie Mai are my favorite foreign singers they are both amazing im shocked that the magazine it being french had no french singers in it (like Marie Mai) but its awesome that Hikki was in it!

I agree! She's just amazing at music composition!
