I see thats a good news XD , anyways beside Utada Hikaru herself, which artist that really popular this day in Japan. Band, Boyband, Female/ male singer, Since nowadays lots of newcomer in music industry ?

Well, it's hard to answer...
People outside of Japan seem to categorise all Japanese music into one genre called "J-POP".
But there are many different types of artists in Japan.
BoA is popular because of her dancing and singing.
Ayumi Hamasaki is popular for the way she dresses.
Utada is popular for her song-writing.
It's hard or almost impossible to name who the most popular artist is.

As far as I'm concerned, I cannot see the point in comparing Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki.
Their fanbase is obviously very different in Japan because they do totally different things.
The things that they have in common are...
I don't know...
They are both very popular and they debuted about the same time.

What I can say, and what the most Japanese people can agree upon about Utada is that
she is one of the greatest singer-songwriters in the Japanese music history.
Her Japanese songs are really poetic. The selection of words that she uses
and the way she rhymes are really unique and interesting.

Thanks, now i understand , well it kinda weird if they got compared, cos they have different style XD.

Oh yah Some fanatics fans outside Japan , i don't know they not wise enough or something. They make it kinda competition who was the best artist. And then it happen rude words came up. Was that kind of thing happen too in Japan ?

Greetings everyone!! This is Judith from the States. Oh my oh my..it's been an interesting weekend for me.

I read this blog online on Friday night about a fan meeting Utada Sephora in LA, which then lead to these Youtube videos, hours of watching Utada-related interviews, site-surfing, and finally found this great place!

I've been a fan for quite a while. Wouldn't say a die-hard fan, but have definitely really liked a couple of her songs before. e.g. First Love, Automatic, Fight the Blues, Heart Station, Prisoner of Love. That's pretty much it. I was never into learning more about her...until this weekend. Found out that she's super down-to-earth and hilarious. Looks like I'll be hanging around here for a bit now, while homework and graduate school will just have to wait. よろしくね！
