"In Heaven"

In Heaven there is no beer
(No beer?!)
That's why we drink it here
And when we're all gone from here
Our friends will be
drinking all the beer.
In Heaven there is no wine
(No wine?!)
So we drink till we feel fine
And when we leave this all behind
Our friends will be
drinking all the wine.
In Heaven there is no fear
(No fear)
So we worry too much here
And we drink ourselves full of beer
To help us when we deal with the fear.
In Heaven there are no drugs
That's why we hang with thugs
And when the Lord pulls the plug
All the thugs will still be
selling drugs, yeah.
Thugs and drugs
Beer...
In Heaven there is no sex
(Oh no!)
So let's do that next
And when our muscles no longer flex
Someone else will be having sex.
In Heaven there are no wars
Or cars, or movie stars
And when we no longer are
The world will probably
still be having wars.
What the heck! Yeah!
Sex and war,
Bars and cars.
Drugs, thugs,
And delicious food.

At first, Weezy, your poem is very simple - and entertaining. I found myself fascinated and pulled in by your message mid-way. I must admit that I was let-down by the ending. (I was expecting something profound)

But thank you - it was very thought provoking. I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. If you were to show me more, I would appreciate the read.

This was the turning point for me, you absolutely had me from thenceforth.

Kay I'm not a poem writer so I put Haiku By Issa Kobayashi
Autumn wind --
mountain's shadow
wavers.
Buddha Law,
Shining
In a leaf dew
Don't weep, insects --
Lovers, stars themselves,
Must part.
even poorly planted
rice plants
slowly, slowly...green!
First firefly,
why turn away --
it's Issa.
From burweed,
such a butterfly
was born?
Never forget:
we walk on hell,
gazing at flowers.

I love this line. It just...it's life.
This makes me appreciate true haiku more than ever. Amazing...

Haiku is an adventure in fun, just plain old common fun with time, events, and happenings using just old common language to tell what it is you discovered and realizing it discovered you discovering it. Haiku is something in Nature you enjoy realizing and seeing that hits you between the eyes and you feel dizzy with giddy realization that you are involved and part of the oneness of the event and the oneness of life, you are in it and it is in you. Sort of like the Tao, the way of life is the Haiku. Then you just don't think really, just let the subconscious do it for you, find the moment that is passing before your sight. Just feel the haiku and don't try to force it into form or being.Issa felt the smallest joy in observing the tiniest things he saw in every moment alive. He feels even the life of a flea, of a small bird, of life's journey along a simple pathway, the way of Zen Haiku. Issa did not write haiku, Issa lived haiku every moment observing and being aware?Issa today in and through words is pure haiku. Issa was the living haiku spirit alive in his allotted moment in the scheme of time. Issa is the spirit of haiku. Haiku is Issa, Issa is haiku. The Tao unfurls in both, both are the Tao. When you read a poem by Issa you see and feel and touch bliss: the feelings of pure common bliss, and that is the best kind of eternity. Issa word always positive that is why I like haiku

look at this thread...
though they might say "I can't" I'm sure they can
though they say "It's not in me" it is in them
though they don't repply I'm sure some wish to...even if it takes time

If it's personal I understand
If it's humorus it might make me laugh
if it's dark, then let's hear it?

just know one thing...someone believes that you can...

it's not much of a poem... but I thought I'd say something since I saw this...

hrm...pardon me if this is obvious...but is "this thread" referring to THIS THREAD? because that's really clever. i mean, i don't know what else it could mean, so, you know.

anyway...

so i don't THINK i posted this one already...i lose track of what i post in different places sometimes...

20/20

i see no
limits, no
clouds, no
inhibitions.
straight shot
vision, so
perfect, so
inviting. i'm

lost in its
warmth, a
hot chocolate sea.

a gaze clear and vibrant
finds me, bids me
come closer from every
corner. and i
start to move,
a puppet of
possibility,
entranced by
expression.

trembling in the wake
of that ecstasy feeling,
fighting to stay sane
when it tempts me, eventually

i succumb to the
silent summons.
i never want to leave;
the look has frozen me. i'm

lost in its
warmth, a
hot chocolate sea.
