random thought: if you really want some poetic, meaningful music, listen to FLOETRY. they're awesome.

and also, of course, UTADA has poetic, meaningful music too. No question.

yeah. not many people even know about them in the U.S. i don't think. go to imeem.com, type in Floetry, and see what you can find...

and here's a poem by yours truly...wrote this sometime over the summer.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

they used to
laugh at her lisp,
but now she's talking pretty.
after suffering a few stings
by beloved queen bees
and wondering why
her own people pointed
and laughed...she said
"one day i'll fight these battles."
for now, she's sitting
behind her books,
report card sunny-side-up
on her desk. but she said
she'd get there sometime.
and sometime came.
because she found fight
in her fingers one day,
saw red and showed them all
just how bright and bloody it was...
but it still didn't feel right.
so she let herself be buried
under the rubble of harsh words,
the sticks and the stones,
voice choked in by cries.
one night, bleary-eyed, those fingers
poked out from those ashes
and grasped the power of a pen.
she pulled herself out--
never mind the damage done--
and began to find
peace in poetry.
no stuttering this time,
they're hearing it ring carillon-clear:
every line in place,
the anger erased,
imperfections replaced,
she's starting to taste
victory now, now that
pressure's met praise.
fingers have stopped pointing;
instead hands are clapping--
does it sound like she's still lisping?

An encouraging poem, Eni-san. I'm glad that you have found some pride in what you are now. Thanks for your compliment about my previous work - the topic was close to my heart at the time of its writing but a few shy days ago.

I'll try to post something up tomorrow.

I'll contribute darker poems....

here's an episode with one of my wisdom tooth

Night Scare

Reality reels me from my infinite universe
I crawl ashore, limbs slump, cradling in Earth upon her nape
Night stands over my bed, in his shadow I am immersed
His nature to hide in darkness sins, guilt and crimes of hate

A pale eye leers at me accusing of a deed perverse
I welcome the dark light, into my conscience it does seep
But my heart rejects it, the shame it holds not that adverse
The smog creeps back to the void, it covets doesn?t reap

He joins a romp with dogs astray; they bark and scratch at what?s not there
He stalks corners in alleys stained of oil, gore I dare not say
Rubbing sweat between my knees, sticky warm my loins I?m aware
It?s heavy what?s swimming by my gums I need it thrown away

Imagination betrays me; it changes sides with Night
Mirror faces, creaking doors, open closets and what more?
I?m paralyzed by a coffin nail, but it?s only fear, I fight
My mouth splatters blood on the sink; the teeth are ever so sore

Enamels reddened, I bare them at my reflection
A repulsive sight it scares, I wonder almost ?Is it real??
I laugh ?who cares?! and rinse and spit with clean solution
Because for children of the night, there is no image to see

i remember wisdom teeth...

And now for a darker poem of my own...

DIDO

they weigh me down:
stones of a funeral pyre
cut to bear a sacrifice.
the air stagnant,
still as my eyes
staring straight ahead into
sweet oblivion,
saccharine slaughter.
a smile played at my lips
even when i knew
the nature of these stones--
not a monument to a
deathless love
but an altar for a
hapless wretch
blinded by possibility,
dazzled by supposed fortune.
as gentle hands
bind me to the truth
and bear me to
the peak of shameful deception,
a horrific epiphany strikes my soul:
to believe that i once wished
to kiss lying lips
is a burden borne
beyond the grave.

Thanks, I had a surge of inspiration the morning after it happened.

I wrote this one when I was really sick

Dying Alive

His heart beats for a cadaver
The blood runs in vain
Waiting to gush from his wrists

He lost himself in oblivion
Forgetting love and hate
He only knows despair

His soul will soon empty
and form a vacuum
that will siphon what's left of his sanity

i love your poems. your mind is far from idle...

DARKEST HOUR

a part of me
still wonders about
what could have been.
i think of your smile
shining through shades
of gray, your laughter
vivid and bright.
in your eyes, i see
the calm and cloudless sky
of a day that may never dawn.
