I get the sense that a lot of people are frustrated by the seemingly low profile CBTM has been getting on the radio. Personally, I have to agree with scott_o_k. The radio stations will play what the majority want because they are there to increase their revenues, not pander to fans or the quality music. IMHO CBTM is not really anything spectacular compared to the rest of the material on This is the One, and honestly nothing special on the radio as well. And many new artists don't break out on their first single either, so I'm not expecting CBTM to carry Utada into the limelight. What I'm waiting for, and hoping for, is her second single, which I hope would be something more unique like "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", as well as possible media promotion (Something like it being played on a popular tv series etc).

Don't lose heart Hikki fans, I don't think IDJ has given up on her yet, just waiting on something better to promote her with. :)

Yikes you're right. I still won't discourage people voting there, but yeah I don't think we should count on them adding the song anytime soon...


i don't think we shuld give up on z100 considering how big of a station they are. maybe they just need a bit of a bigger push for hikki to be considered one of their "hot" artists. also i noticed that the online request form is specifically for the interactive 9 at 9, so maybe she got taken off of that cuz there just wasnt enough votes for her there. i think calling the station wuld be better since we culd talk to them and show them how much we want utada to play on the radio.



Aaaactually... i'mma say it was a week or two ago but i remember calling z100 to request Utada and have been told that they're specifically not taking any requests of her at the moment.

I talked about this in another thread (the Radio Requet Info thread). I'm going to put my comment in here since it's become relavant to the topic at hand.

[blah blah something about him asking me what i'm doing right now and non-Utada related fillings]

- "Well, thanks for calling z100, sorry for not being able to play Utada.."
` "Ohh, nono! Thank you for this!"

[farewells etc etc.]


It was something to that effect from what i remember.

I haven't called z100 since then. X:

Then again, it's been a few weeks. Maybe I should try again??! ...If there's anyone out there that's BEEN requesting Utada on z100 recently, please hit me up on it, tell me if you've gotten any kind of direct response. :B (I guess you could reply here if you want but messaging me works too).

I think you bring many quality insights, but I will adamantly put my foot down on this point: "Come Back to Me" is a pretty standard pop radio-friendly ballad, and I don't think it stands out much at all from other songs from the same cloth. In fact, "Come Back to Me" production-wise is pretty much Stargate recycling ""Take a Bow"." Granted Utada is a better vocalist than Rihanna, and gets props for writing the melody herself, but present both songs to the average person and they won't be able to discern a notable difference.

There have been a few times (today included) that Utada's had enough spins to enter All Access's rhythmic chart (top 50), but hasn't been listed. I would love to know why. Hmm.

Utada has enough spins to be #47 on Rhythmic, but All Access still doesn't list her. I really wonder what the deal is.
