Namie Amuro Do Me More

Rhianna Disturbia

They sound similar to me.

Rihanna, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey aren't the only popular artists here in the states couple of suggestions:

Adele Chasing Pavements

John Legend Everybody Knows

You overlooked my entire point....John Mayer is labeled pop.He is label Alternative.John Legend is best suited as R&B though I think he proceeds the genre even.I really respect his work.Adele would fall under the pop genre, true. She isn't worked as a publicity figure though.-_- She even has solid vocal talent that can set her apart from the pop genre. And personally,I hate "Do Me More".I facepalmed when I heard it.But that isn't the majority of Namie's work....I have Genius 2000 and PLAY to back me up.It bares the influence but at least it's "attempting" to be original. If you don't consider it as such.

Yes J-pop and American Pop are different but they are also similar. I didn't say they were the same. I also don't think American music is better than Japanese music nor do I think Japanese music is better than American music. What I'm interpreting from your comment is that your trying to say that american artists sound alike and I agree/disagree. Most artists here have their own unique styles while some other artists simply don't. TITO is a very unique album its similar but also different from a lot of the albums being released here in the states.

I've heard 2 full Ne-yo albums. It's one thing to realize that she shares the producers with him,but it's another to feel as though they recycled something they gave him.

1."On and On" -Tricky Stewart-
2."Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI" -Stargate-
4."Taking My Money Back" -Tricky Stewart-
3."Apple And Cinnamon" -Stargate-
5."This One (Crying Like a Child)" -Stargate-
6."Automatic Part II" -Tricky Stewart-
7."Dirty Desire" -Tricky Stewart-
8."Poppin'" -Stargate-
9."Come Back to Me" -Stargate-
10."Me Muero" -Stargate-

Hikki101.....where do you see Utada as producing any of these tracks?

This is the One

There is the wiki link to check for yourself. We'll both have the album soon.So we can check the credits there too.If I'm wrong I'll apologize for blaming her producers.I'll just blame her for her laps in judgment :D

she didnt produce the song but she did write the songs for the album.

Also, she said it herself that she wanted this album to be more mainstream, which is more pop and R&B to break into the american market.
ill support her with whatever she'll do.

If Hikki came out with another Exodus like album or even an album that sounded more like her Japanese releases it would most likely flop just like Exodus did. America only likes "experimental" if you are running around like a half-retarded Andy Warhol-clone like Lady Gaga. Which is hilarious to me, because her music is like pop-Euro dance crap so what the hell is so great?

I like TITO but I am only expecting it to do slightly better than Exodus. IDJ has already made some bizarre moves, (shuffling tracks, dual-release dates, etc.).

I get the feeling that someone over at IDJ must really like HIkki or something, because why else do they "keep trying"?

The US is strange when it comes to music. We harp about originality and experimentation but look at what charts highest, usually the slickly produced stuff.

I agree. This album is a sell out, as in, she sold out to get fans from crappy American audiences. Most people I know hate how American music is these days and prefer underground or foreign music, which USED to be like I loved Hikki, but now I sort of lost respect for her.
Exodus was an amazing album. I really hated it at first, but it really is, musically, amazing. Too bad she cared more about "making it" in America than making more good music. This might be "good pop" as she keeps saying, but pop is all the same these days anyway.

I agree. Jpop is not a GENRE in Japan, and it is a lot better than American pop "music". Even the lyrics are better. Usually they are more sincere and don't always talk about "Oh, my man cheated, I hate him booo hooo" and all that drama. Jpop encompases all types of music as well, and is not always what we here would consider pop. That is why it is better. It sounds better, has better lyrics, and is not so focused on image and drama, it's more about the music.

I don't need to take it easy on her. This album is a HUGE disappointment. If this is what she wants to do, she should go for it, but I'm not going to be listening anymore. And I know I'm not the only one here. Just because I love all of her previous stuff doesn't mean I have to love everything she does just because it was her. She sold out, did a mainstream american style (which is pure s***) so she could make money. My respect has gone down. She should have continued doing music for music's sake, not to make money in our musically retarded culture.

Even though she has said in many interviews that she wanted to make "good pop", I think it's very obvious that she set out to test American musical waters and try to conquer it and she will probably break out into mainstream music with this crap. Congratulations.
