being in another country and being in the US comparing what country it is.. i feel like its funner to be in other countries and i'm guessing she is more socially accepted and feels more comfortable there because it is her roots. A good example is when i go back home to the Philippines.. it feels like US is the most boring place on the face of the planet.. the only good part is the luxury and money that u work for thats gives an up for the US. So mabe she just like it better there.. idk just a guess

Hikki will have to live and work continually in the US for maybe a year or longer before seeing the fruits of her endeavours, a few weeks won?t make the slightest of difference, and I have no doubt Hikki can do this as a songwriter and musician, I not sure that Hikki wants to do this if it meana sacrificing her Japanese lifestyle and home life.

Yeah your right... and sacrificing her Japanese lifestyle might also change how she does her work....

To be honest....All she needed was one good Collaboration. If they would have got the neptunes one board...This would have been solid. They could have gotten Verbal from M-Flo/Teriyaki Boyz and Kanye West would have followed suit.If they would have even did.....dare I say it....a Lil'Wanye collab....instant hit.Not that it would be GOOD.But it will sell.I felt Dirty Desire should have been the first single. They could have did a story tie in with the video to CBTM,which would be the 2nd single of the album.Then...Taking my Money back and finally MCML-FYI.

Please CherrySoda I?ve been quite clear about race, the ?last bit? is purely a quip not too be taken seriously, it?s a rant against pop snobbery, in the context of understanding Asian musical culture as a whole, nothing there about racial identify , which is something different entirely.

Amaterasu please tell me you don?t just have these items hanging around the ?home? lol???demons in Diablo?... I will need to look up! Besides they are cost prohibitive, and rattle when you take them into the post office.

Many new and established artists seem to struggle to achieve a level of success in the US music business, and to quote a previous post , In Japan Hikki?s status is that of a mega star, ?Princess of Pop ?, every new release guaranteed to be a huge hit.

Now lets look at the other side of the coin, in the US and also in the UK the cultures have been producing these mega ?Pop Stars? for over 70 years, and comes with an unforgiving public and press, this is a tough music business to become successful in and Hikki could be finding this difficult to handle.

And this is the point, it will take time, hard work, and careful focused publicity and promotion to achieve even moderate success.

I saw an article about Joss Stone who has hit out against her record label over the constant delayed release of her forth coming album, so serious that Joss announced April last year that she would be launching a legal battle to sever the links with EMI.

Joss constantly stresses that it took a tremendous amount to work, with constant rounds of press gigs over a period of years not weeks or months,to become a success in the US (In June Joss offered EMI ?2m from her advance to free from her contract).

Fetish? You mean candles, paddles, hooks, whips and ball-gags? Kinky.

Or maybe the demons in Diablo. Maybe.

I can't change the way people think. I don't try. Society thinks as it thinks. The sad thing is that all the US sales of TITO right now are basically her hardcore fans.

Was this last bit seriously necessary ? Who brought race into this?

Its disheartening to hear this, once at school I think I was about 15 years of age, on a music project assignment, students had to show examples of ?The diverse world of music? ?the majority wrote essays about ?Black American music culture?, some about Indian Bhangra beats, I chose to essay Hikki and some of her achievements recognised within the Asian music industry, most refused to even acknowledge that pop music even exists in Asia, the rest with a few exceptions thought Japan in particular just copied western styles, even in 2009 when listening to some of Hikki interviews, there is a patronising tone to the questions.

I don?t feel this has anything to do with race, but more to do with professional pop snobbery, that snotty aloofness shown when debating pop music genre generally, that ?we gave you pop/rock n roll? etc , ?all that remains after is just imitation pop? mentality, it seems we have along way to go?..

If any Utadanet member ever gets within ear shot of this nonsense, may I suggest, anonymously sending the plonker a thank you ?gift? during the middle of summer being sure to include a few words of discouragement and perhaps a few other treats, lumps of Wrigley's chewing gum (well chewed), Fetish magazines (not porno), titles like ?happy spanker?, ?Guys and Girls like Pampers??include beef jerky, vegetable peelings can really hum when send on parcel post ?cheep n cheerful? rate , Grandma?s old underwear?just remember to include the words a ?gift of thanks from Asian Musicians Globally?

basically, during the release of exodus, there was very little promotion made by island def jam...as in very little...only hardcore hikki fans and people from japan knew that she released an english album...yeah sure, she was featured in MTV for a while, some internet write-ups, but literally no tv appearance...i dunno if i correct, maybe the admins and some know more about these...=P

If as rumoured that Hikki is in the recording studio, could we ?fingers crossed? anticipate an update on the rescheduling of TITO ?promotional activities?.

Why does Hikki have to endure another crazy round of 4 cities in 4 days, if Hikki had a complaint the mad scheduling is a good reason to.

Wholesome247 Quote: ?then I wonder how she felt when island def jam literally treated her like crap during the exodus era??

I was 14 when Exodus was released?..can you explain?

How bad did IDF treat Hikki?
