WHY is Hikki or her management not allowing photographs? As much as I like her, and as much as I think that she's 'down to earth' it appears that the only LOGICAL conclusion to draw from this is that Utada Hikaru is a conceited ____.

Is it to force us to buy a DVD?

I think that it is to make us buy a DVD. But I seriously doubt it's because Utada is conceited. If anything it was her manager or whoever above her that made the concert no photo/video. It is not Utada trying to make a buck or upset her fans. I remember in one interview she even said she doesn't care if people download her music for free as long as they listen and like it. So I serious doubt that she would personally care if someone taped her concert.

While was Utada is the star of the concert, she did not book it and her managers are paying for the venue. They give her certain orders and she has to follow them.

Mayhap my logic be flawed!? Crap, my monocle just shattered! Arg, blood everywhere!

Kidding aside, I think that it just may be that. She's never seemed to be stuck up before. Stopping on her way to sign fan's CDs at Sephora, saying downloading her music is fine if we're poor. She seems like an eccentric star. Maybe it's IDJ / management who's pulling these strings.

Nonetheless, I don't think that a DVD of a very short concert would be marketable for us--- Wait--- unless it were included as a bonus to a Dirty Desire Single.

Blaaaaast!

Very short concert?? Haha, it's 1hr 45min, that's not short by any means. Utada United 2006 was just 15 minutes longer. If there isn't a DVD, it's not going to be because the concert was short.

My guess is that if there's going to be a DVD, we probably won't know for another couple of weeks because she'll probably do the filming in NYC or London.

where these hawaii concert pictures came from i wonder? they banned cameras and yet there's links deliberately showing concert pics...were they 'illegally' taken?? im not getting the whole 'picture' here..lol..but seriously how??

and i cant understand why she wouldnt allow photo's..is this one of her unusual uncomformalities?? during the united tour, no one was allowed to sing along/clap along...it was always pure silence when sang..hikki is quite something huh?? that vampire thing you said amaterasu was quite random but quite funny as well..i seriously doubt that, although she has been known to be very random with her personal approach..i guess the dvd release promoting would be the only rational explanation.

"...seriously how?" Cameras were snuck in by a boo koo load of people including myself. I read here that there was not advance notice of a "no camera" policy but signs were posted outside the venue. That said, with the volume of attendees and basically two individuals checking belongings and minimal pat downs, there were a lot of cameras and cell phones in the venue. It's really very simple actually.

I can't remember a concert I've attended in which cameras were allowed...so this was the norm for me.

hmm..i wouldve assumed if youre going to say 'no photography', security wouldve been lots more tight about it..some 'maintenance' in security may be required..or not saying 'no photography' at all wouldve been better..saying this in advance to the other tour stops would help but thats not going to stop guests from doing so now is it??

the do confiscate your phone and camera if they see it. i dont know if they're give it back though. there are conflicting answers but most are taking shots and then uploading via their phone to twitter etc. people need to be smarter if they are illegally shotting and TURN OFF THE FLASH!

....speaking only re the Hawaii venue....the number of security staffers checking bags and tickets was woefully inadequate vs the number of concertgoers. That said, they did check thoroughly...but as I posted in another thread, if a female puts the camera on their person, in this day and age, they're not going to get caught....imagine a male officer patting down a female ticketholder. Simply won't happen. They checked purses and nailed lots of folks. Once the show started, guards were above the crowd and could probably easily see cameras being used.

Lastly, I will confirm for the umpteenth time that confiscated cameras were simply claim checked for pick up when leaving and no one was kicked out. There was also no follow up re any pics taken to the point with anyone who was caught. Toward the end of the show...after the three popular Japanese songs...I was heading toward the restroom/exit and saw the claim check area...it was hilarious....zillions of cameras.

I think they didn't allowed photography because for keeping audience comfortability. Who will not get annoyed of watching concert with people in front of you raising their camera in their hands as high as possible for taking pictures?
