We haven't domesticated whales or created whale farms so it's a little different than a cow, and most that argue for "whale rights" say that a whale is a higher organism than a cow. To me that is irrelevant, but I believe in protecting whales for other reasons.

I agree they are a part of the food chain, but I consider the rules a little different if the animal is endangered and the majority of whales they hunt are endangered. Extinction of any species should be avoided. Hopefully I don't have to explain why humanity should try to prevent extinction of life because that's a long argument.

The real problem is that Japan unfortunately is highly dependent on international trade. Their country could not provide for their citizens without it. If Japan can't import enough food to feed its citizens, then they have to farm the sea. That is their only option considering the lack of land they can use for farming. That does not justify using endangered whales for food IMO, but it makes the situation more complicated. Whaling is a big business for them and to entirely shutdown the Japanese whaling industry would create a terrible economic crisis for those families as well.

The solution in my book, would be limiting the amount they can kill, using every part of the whale, never killing a whale that isn't old enough to reproduce, and never killing a mother that is raising a calf. I think they follow all but the last rule. Hopefully the population will grow faster than the demand. That is really the key.

Basically this was the long way of saying, it has nothing to do with "cuteness" which btw who thinks whales are cute?
I don't see it.

Yeah, I don't think whales are cute...

Tokyo Disney Sea is pretty cool. I've been there twice. So much different than Disneyland.

"natta" as in なった?

Using it with a noun, it will be used as become or became. Pretty straightforward.
Such as watashi wa ari ni natta - I became an ant.

Now using it with an adjective or verb is a different story.

"Natta" is "naru" used with the "ni" particle.

Usually you put the words koto(こと) or you(よう) in front of "natta" to use it with a verb. In this case, koto and you will be used as a noun but it doesn't mean something in particular. For example:

- Nihon ni iku koto ni natta - Its been decided that I'm going to Japan.

- Undou suru you ni natta - I started to exercise.

Its quite hard to explain.

in case you want to stay in a typically japanese hotel you might want to spend one night here (it's a little pricey, so one night should be enough xD)

it's next to Sensoji Temple
