No offense, but Utada wasn't he best singer in the video. Gaga may be weird, but she has a beyond outstanding voice. Fergie and Utada are about the same level. Then when get get to the actual CD, Mariah is the best singer on there. Katy Perry is weird, but she also has an amazing singing voice. Utada is definitely one of the better artists on that CD, though. As far as the songs in there, one of the best songs.

Edit: I want to know what the heck Brittney Spears is doing on that CD. She's no where near a good singer. Not at all.

A lot of people compare Utada's Dirty Desire to Lady Gaga's Love Game...but most people around here prefer Hikki, right? XD

At least Utada closed the cm ! One thing I find funny about this commercial is that all the names have been written in Japanese (katakana) EXCEPT the one that IS Japanese.

That's because Utada's Japanese name is under the EMI label.

I wasn't talking about "宇多田ヒカル" name. Her name is already Japanese, so it's not hard to write it in the Japanese language, ya know? They could have put her name in katakana as they did everyone else ---> ウタダ (just to fit in)

It's kinda like when everyone in a group gets a cool nickname...except you...

EXAMPLE:
-Jennifer - Thunder
-Ben - Ice
-Sam - Tornado
-Utada - *cough* Utada

Jennifer says, "Um, we ran out of names, it looks like yours will have to stay the same."

Utada replies, "Aw, what about Lightning?"

Jennifer looks at Utada, "Sorry, someone already has that." Jennifer looks down at her dog.

"That's a dog. Why does he need a nickname?" Utada asks.

"Watch what you say," Jennifer says in disgust, "he has feelings, too!"

"You know what," Utada says, "screw you guys, I'm going home....and getting back to work on my new single because I'm sure some of my fans are growing impatient."

Utada logs into Utadanet, "Yup, very impatient..."

Um... Japanese people tend to use katakana in order to know how a foreign word is pronounced... and i really hope that everyone over there IS capable of pronouncing Utada if ya know what i mean

I was just saying how it was fun...nevermind.

*IN MY HEAD*

Utada: C'mon, let's take you home. They just don't understand you. *holds out hand*

Jiremi: *Shakes head and begins to hold Utada's hand*

*SLAP*

Utada: I don't know you like that! I was just going to pat you on the back! GEESH! And I hate your color choices when you edit the color of your text. Choose one color scheme and stick with it!

Jiremi: So yeah, I have no life for typing all this

[EPIC FAIL]

To stay on topic:

Too bad they didn't choose a different song to use. Oh, it's nice that the best singer in the video was Utada

What does "Bad Romance" have to do with the title "Beautiful Woman" That should be for the next CD, "Scary Woman"...okay, maybe that was funnier in my head.

you got ishues xD

It is so weird that Utada doesn't get the same treatment as everyone else.

They don't show her video, and leave her name in plain English. I would expect them to write it like this

UTADA

Notice how it is written in a different font.

Only singers that I really hate in that video are Fergie and Taylor Swift.

Well, if you want to be technical, Fergie has a more powerful voice than Utada when it comes to singing...in English.

I meant their actual ability. That's why I said they were about the same. Utada's vocal capacity is a good one. She's amazing live, too. They're about the same, lol.

Just thought I'd throw in my $.02. Starting with full disclosure, I'm a fan of both Utada and Fergie. But Utada is first and foremost with me by a wide margin over anyone else and will always have a special place in my heart. But I'll be as objective as I can be in what follows.

Obviously, they're both great performers and singers. But I have to give Utada higher marks for her vocals. I think her range is better; some of her notes and phrases actually send shivers up my spine (like the opposite of nails on a blackboard). Of course, that could just be my reaction. I also think Utada has a wider variety of song styles in her repertoire. Utada also pours more of herself into her music and it shows with more emotional impact and range being displayed in her work. Utada's lyrics are also more complex, moving and poignant than anything I've heard from Fergie.

Utada also gets higher marks creatively since while Fergie is listed as writer on her "Dutchess" tracks they are all collaborations. We're all well aware that Utada's tracks are all her and her alone.

Utada is first when it comes to music withme, too, but sometimes you have to be honest with yourself. There are singers who are can sing better than Utada.
I'm just referring to the voice. The ability to produce or write music does not affect the talent of your voice. In English, Utada struggles when trying to hit the higher notes in her songs while singing live, such as "Come Back To Me" and "FYI". While singing the chorus for "FYI", towards the end during,"ooohaah", she tends to yell. She actually finishes with an "AH!" Fergie, on the other hand, can hit higher notes in English.

Example:

Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry - LIVE:

Utada - FYI - LIVE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKTUeNieYT8&feature=related

This is off topic, but one thing I hated about her being on that morning show was the fact that she had a "band" behind her. If anyone pays enough attention to Utada's music, you definitely will know they aren't even playing

I think Hikaru has an amazing voice. Much better then Fergie's, in my opinion. Note that this show was at 6 in the morning!

Here's Hikaru singing Exodus '04 live. Very nice.

And an outstanding live performance of Colors.

Jiremi stop pretending to be a fan you're embarrasing yourself.

Are you serious? If you are a "real" fan of Utada you would know that Fergie in her wildest dreams could not sing some of the songs Utada can. Fergie songs are easy to sing.
My Humps? Big Girls don't cry? Let's see her sing Come Back to me, Final Distance,Letters, Sakura Drops, Kremlin Dusk, Wait and See, Simple and Clean or For You.
Also nice try comparing Fergie's live with one of Utada's worst lives and that was because she was SICK with tonsillitis and saying she can't hit high notes. Let's see how she sounds when she isn't sick and singing at 5:30 in the morning shall we?

Let's try this again:

Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry - LIVE (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9FQ1egwMpA

Utada Hikaru - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (2006)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfdjZYDkpY4

or

Utada Hikaru Uso Mitai Na I Love You Budokan (2004)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAbUgDuzx5M

or something more recent:

Utada In The Flesh ( Boston) Come Back To me (2009)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbMFXyiYT1U#t=5m20s

^ how did those high notes sound in the bridge portion of CBTM? You think Fergie can do that?

I can post 50 Youtube links of Hikki giving great live performances and hitting high notes right and left how many can you post of Fergie?
