never heard of Best Of's released against the singer's will? check Onitsuka Chihiro, for instance...

edit: and I also want to add that it wouldn't really make sense to claim that it's against her will if she actually approved of it, would it?

Things like this have happened before. I'm not sure about in Japan (since I'm not all that into the scandal's and what not) but in America, this is quite common. It's possible that she had no part in this. I'm sure Utada's not lying (well at least I believe her - Utada's not the typical money hungry jpop singer who releases a single/ album every two months), so let's support her by not buying this compilation!

I'm not surprised Utada's not behind this being released. Universal are just cashing in. If fans don't check out the track listing and just buy it because it's an Utada album, then Universal's job is done, isn't it?
I believe Utada when she says she's against it, because I would be too. There's also the fact U3music and hikki_staff on Twitter have also commented on it, explaining their distaste in its release. I wonder if this will get pulled from the shelves... Or just be released without Utada's consent?
If so, I can see her not going back to EMI once she finishes her sabbatical.

??SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.2′ is a sincere release from me. In the coming days, I plan on making a more detailed comment about ?Utada the best?, but pre-orders have already started?and I simply wrote what I did because I couldn?t restrain myself anymore. Good night for now!?

I seriously hate it when Record companies take advantage over an artist. It happens everytime with the Korean artists. Anyway, it was good to hear from Hikki herself that it wasn't her intention to release the "Utada the Best". She cares for her fans

nah... in the first tweet about it she says "There's no connection at all to me (my will literally)" which basically means: "it's against my will"
