I have only seen about half the concert, but it was difficult watching UH butcher one of my fave songs (Blue).

You either need to clean out your ears or buy some decent headphones not the ones that came with your ipod.

Have you checked your setup? I don't think that her losing breath and missing notes has much to do with the amount of mucus in my ears, or my audio equipment...

Just sayin'.

She sang with all her heart and soul and did everything possible to make her fans happy.
So she can't sing as well as she used to, so what?

I don't know which concert some of you people watched but i saw some incredible live performances that had me in tears.

Her Blue performance was wonderful.

The issue is *not* whether she tried with her heart and soul.

At any rate, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I hope that I will enjoy it as well; when I find a better recording of it, or when this "On Demand" business comes into fruition.

Ha! You're right, so damn right, the issue is you're a professional musician with top-notch hearing abilities, we're doomed by poor genetics, hence the inability to detect butchered versions. This is a cruel world.

It's getting hot in this thread. I just hope everyone from here could respect everybody's opinions.

Well, I would not describe it as horrid. It wasn't horrid at all. Although, yes I'am aware that she fails on most of her performance. For the record, I've seen Wild Life 7x in a row. There are times that she hits this note, then after a while she could barely hit another note. I'm pretty sure this all started during UU06. The time when I think she struggles too much with her voice.

Wild Life performance of Hymne a l'amour, Stay Gold, Passion(although at the end part she slipped), First Love & Can't wait til' Christmas are good enough. I know for a fact that Hikki tried and gave her best for this concert. I couldn't say that she wasn't prepared for this day. She is, it's just that.. her voice is not in a good condition for most of us to tell.

And, yeah.. Hikki trying so hard to perform her songs on the 8th kinda suffered me. Specially when she sang Blue. She fails to reach the high notes. But I'am actually glad that she was giving her best at that time.

PS: I haven't downloaded the mp3-rip of the 9th performance due to a slow net connection, but maybe I could comment again if I'd hear it.

Listen to Blue on the CD and then listen to her wildife performance of the song.
She hits all the high notes.
The only songs that she was flat on was in the beginning but she warmed up and her vocals were quite good after that. Letters and beautiful World were shaky but Prisoner of love, take 5, Passion, show me love, Blue, sakura drops, stay gold etc etc... were awesome!

You people need to understand that post UU06 (vocal chord damage) she is not the same singer but she can still sing beautifully and better then 90% of the singers in America.
She sang Hymn la Amour and Across the Universe like they were the easiest songs in the world to sing because she didn't write them.

Hikki writes beautiful but very difficult songs to sing that are up tempo and contain a ton of transitions between low, high and medium.
Artist don't even attempt to cover her songs from fear of sounding awful ( see namie amure's cover of Kettobase).

Give Hikki a break (pun unintended), she is amazing and doesn't deserve this microscopic critiquing from her fans.
Stop dwelling on a few flat notes and enjoy the concert.

Hikki 4 Life!

Oh my God, Namie covered Kettobase??? I had to look that up on youtube promptly.

I agree that her voice wasn't as strong as the Utada United performance, but still good! I don't know if you guys have ever tried her songs at karaoke but they're all hard, and she sang all her hardest songs at Wild Life!! Blue, Letters, Flavor of Life... I'd like to see anyone else in today's music industry sing as well as she did, after being the top pop artist of Japan for 12 years. Just sayin'.

Have you seen the second part of the concert yet? I will find a way to upload the whole concert somewhere so you can see the whole thing.

She was practically flawless in all her songs.
Automatic and First Love were the best since Unplugged IMO.
The best Beautiful World and Passion performances I've seen to date.
Show Me Love, Stay Gold and Across the Universe were perfect and Can't wait till Christmas sounded better then it did on the CD.
I thought this was light years better then UU06 where she sounded very strained.

I'm having a hard time understanding how one of her best if not her best concert to date can be criticized by so many fans.

I don't understand why everyone is getting all riled up. We should just all come to the agreement that some enjoyed it and some didn't, some might've been dissapointed. Besides the singing, the main reason I HATED IT was cuz of how she left and how it seemed like she was gonna cry. I felt so depressed. =/ Freakin' Hikki.

CRAP! I've been FOUND OUT. I guess I'd better quit this forum before word of my secret alter-ego gets around. I also must have missed the memo about, "Differing Opinions and individuality are not welcome on this forum,".

Thank you, for those of you who are showing maturity. I would (very) much appreciate an Upload of her concert that doesn't have that issue of a huge audio - visual unsynch problem around her MC-ing. My appreciation in advance!

(No, I haven't seen the rest yet!)

I do agree with everything you've said, (she sounded horrid in the beginning of Dec. 8 concert), but I just can't agree with that she butchered BLUE To me that was the best performance of the night, but that's just my opinion. the second half her voice is much less shaky(after eclipse interlude), you should watch that part and then see what you think.
