Hi pips! just dropped by to see whats up with UtadaNet, (haven't been posting for such a long time now).

anyways, just saw Wildlife on YT. I don't know which day it was recorded however here is what i have to say...

regarding her voice... well it was really shaky in some songs and was great in other songs. heard it and there is no denying it. some of us were really affected by it while others were not (reason for the rise of temperature for this topic and clash of opinions). maybe this could be another reason why she wants to rest. lets face it, we all have different expectations regarding our beloved Hikki, some are harder to please than others, but it doesn't mean we should clash at each other, respect is still a must, heck we are all rooting for one person here.

regarding her overall performance, i could really say that it was great. great movements and connection to the audience, great timing and execution of songs, AND that is still the reason why we all love her.

arrangement of the songs were also great. great people behind her, doing all the music for each songs. still in my opinion i liked it much better if the guy with long hair (her lead guitarist in UU06) was with her on this. however, im not that hard to please, so i was really happy (in fact i was smiling the whole time watching the concert) with the arrangements of each songs.

oh another thing, in my opinion her performance for Hikari in UU06 was a little better, this is taking into consideration the overall feel of the concert on both occasion. voice was not a problem for me in this, its just that, some of the "epicness" was missing this time around.

Take5, Goodbye Happiness, Sakura Drops and Niji-iro Basu were my favourites and worth bragging to any "unbeliever" (some of my friends sadly).

however, Time Will Tell was superb this time around. Best performance of the song in my book. She gave it all on this one. Great voice. She was teary eyed in the end, and the final bow was meaningful.

my friends ask me if which of her concerts are my favourite, easily i will reply UU06 and Wildlife. heck, all of her concerts are great that is why am still following her and will follow her still in the future.

finally, clashes of opinions happen from time to time, we must always keep our cool and realize we are different individuals and again, underneath all of it, we all love Hikaru Utada.

thanks everyone. keep the lovin' feelin' up!
happy holidays!

oh and soulhunter, musta na? maligayang pasko dude!

hikaru's budokan and united 2006 concerts were flawless. i specially like her performance in united 06 her voice back then was amazing as she could hit all the high notes on every song and her energy back then was very high.

her voice in wild life and in the flesh concerts were a bit strained. sometimes its like she is out of air or something. maybe because she has grown a little older and her voice box is not as strong as before when she was younger.

this said, it doesn't remove the fact that i still love her, warts and all!!

If we didn't want to discuss and argue stuff in this forum then it would just turn into one huge Hikki circlejerk.

I respect Amaterasu 's opinions very much even though we may disagree.

After listening to the audio from both concerts it's safe to say the girl still has it and her voice is actually sounding better then it did last year when I saw her on tour.

She may not be flawless in every performance and she may not be able to hit every high note perfectly like on the CD but Hikki is still an awesome singer and the best damn musician in Japan.

well... very true

I am sorry, but what is a Media Bank?

I must find her songs! Thank you!

When you're logged in, click on 'FORUM' on the top and then scroll down to 'MEDIA BANK', then click on 'Audio recording of WILD LIFE on Dec. 9th'. Not that hard to find once you're logged in, really. It's also on the front page right now in 'Recent Forum Topics'. :)

Why the arguments?
Should we not discuss this in a more amicable manner? The fact that there are 2 parties arguing over whether she was horrid or not proves that her voice really wasn't up to par. No need to be so ticked off though because I'm sure we all did enjoy watching it despite the criticisms and we still appreciate and love her music. Just sayin'.

Yeah, what's up with her earpiece? She kept putting it on and taking it off throughout the concert. Maybe some technical difficulties or it was really uncomfortable wearing it.

During the performance of Letters, the first few seconds, it sounded really weird. Was it the faulty instruments or what? Sounded like a broken CD. Or perhaps it was some kinda effect did deliberately...

On a side note, the Namuro cover of Kettobase! turns out to be pretty good. I'm glad she didn't kill the song.

The recording of the second concert is on the Media Bank.

I also noticed that she kept messing with her earpiece and even took it off during Beautiful World once she started that "whoa, yeah" part at the end. I wonder why...

I'm basing my opinion off of the first concert because I haven't seen the second one, and have no idea where I would be able to watch it :( . I was glad that she sang songs she has never done before, but I have to admit that her voice was not up to par. I don't agree that she sings better than most singers in America, but I can say that she probably puts more effort into her songs because she isn't in it for the money like most big artists are. Her vocals were damaged during the Utada United tour. Also, this was a very emotional tour for her seeing as it is her last for a while. I imagine her being sad, and when you are emotional like that, it is hard to sing correctly. She also has bouts of tonsilitis. This I totally can relate with as I have chronic tonsilitis, but still sing. It takes a long time to heal from it, especially if you refuse to get your tonsils taken out. As long as the tonsils are there, they will be a menace to the throat even if you aren't sick. This is just a speculation..I mean it could be anything, but you can't deny that there was something up with her voice. And yes...most of her songs are difficult to sing. She has said herself that she doesn't realize how hard her songs are to sing until she is done composing them XD

I loved that red dress she was wearing. Wasn't classy, but wasn't casual. She is just beautiful <3 And I love watching her talk..she looks so awkward XD Was there something wrong with her earpiece too? She was constantly fiddling with it.

I enjoyed it, but I really hope that she decides to take professional voice lessons so her vocals are not damaged any further. There really won't be a Hikki if she is permanently unable to sing :/

Is there any way I can watch the second concert since a lot of people are saying it was much better than the first?
