something i wanted to ask natalie...how long have you been learning japanese??

I studied Japanese in the spring and summer of 2002. I only get to practice it on occasion now, but I still try to read Japanese sites and listen to music etc.

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted in this thread. The last scans I made didn't turn out and I haven't had time to rescan them. I will hopefully have more this week.

wow......then you almost learn this for 4 years..i only start learning last year......almost 1 year i have been studying japanese...but i dont really speak much because of the environment i live here....

Just as a question, I was always told that the "o" sound is like the "a" in "water". Like, big open "o", but neither long or short (as is described in English. >.>)

Well, yeah. That's my little question.

AND, I was also told (once) that "onegai" was for requests. As opposed to the traditional "please".

E.g.

Could I have a cup of water please? <=== "kudasai"
Could you please pass the salt? <===="onegai"

Or so I was told. I've seen otherwise, so I just wanted to inquire further. >.>

And about "mama", it means "like" or "still".

E.g.

Kono mama <====="like this"
Atsui mama <====="[the weather's] still warm/hot"

I've studied JP out of a book for a year now, I think. I like to believe I can answer some questions and hold a half-decent conversation, but I'm probably wrong.
