She's from Iceland, half Italian and her singing voice is similar to Bjork, who is also from Iceland.

I think most people have heard her on Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. She sang the song during the credits, Gollum's Song . It's a haunting and beautiful song. In fact, Bjork was supposed to sing this, but she was pregnant at the time so they changed it to Torrini. Good thing, coz I'd never have discovered her.
