On the last week leading up to the album's release, Oricon's NINKI rankings for November 19, 2010 posted that the Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2 and Utada the Best were #1 and #2 with 501.40 and 93.20 index points respectively<ref>http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/na/</ref><ref>http://twitter.com/UBlog/status/5577189550456832</ref>. Although not a true representation of sales or even predications, the popularity poll does show the level of purchasing interest and awareness of upcoming releases within the Japanese public and also gives strong insinuation to where an album and single might rank and cumulate in total sales during its premiere week(s) of release<ref>http://www.utadanet.com/modules/newbb/makepdf.php?type=post&pageid=0&scale=0.66&post_id=123402</ref>. For reference, Arashi's latest 2010 album had a slight edge of 502.20 points at #1 and ended up selling nearly three-fourths of a million and instantly overtook the current yearly #1 spot in its first week out; AKB48's latest 2010 single had 550.70 points and pulled a similar feat with more than 800,000 units in its first-week (overtaking the former Arashi), becoming Oricon's current yearly #1 instantly as well. First-week sales for this Utada release are ranging between a 500,000-900,000 estimate<ref>http://www.utadanet.com/modules/newbb/makepdf.php?type=post&pageid=0&scale=0.66&post_id=123386</ref>.[/b][/i][/u]

Don't know what the odds of her beating out Arashi for the yearly crown, but I'd say reports like this point in her favor generally, although this similarly happened with HS/SG's physical single and things didn't exactly follow through as previously thought, being only one of two by her that didn't sell more than 100,000 units. I'm still willing to bet the concerts and all this promotion may just give her the edge she needs, but it'll likely be a slight lead either way. This was cut, copied, and pasted this from Hikki's latest Wikipedia page; so what are all of us thinking will happen this first week? A million-plus break, just over-a-half of that, or somewhere in between? For that matter, what do you think Utada the Best will sell first week and than overall?

Is anyone else besides hopelessly praying that they go to #1 and #2 back to back??? ...

I'm hoping UHSCV2 gets 1st and Utada the Best goes bye-bye. I don't want an album that the artist specifically said NOT to buy (which is kinda funny... )

Wait, can anyone tell me what is the album in Japan this year which eventually reached a million copies in just a week of release? I hope it will be surpassed by Utada Hikaru SIngle Collection Vol.2.

Utada the Best? Do not. Hopingly. ^_^♪
