Yeah. She heard about one of the school shootings in Japan, and this girl was killed. She had apparently just won a contest for writing an essay about how she wanted to grow up to be just like Hikki. So Utada modified Distance into Final Distance as a tribute to the girl. I thought that was really sweet...great song too.

Yes, you would almost think that it WOULD be something she'd comment about, considering she made Final Distance because a young girl that was a fan of Hikki was shot and killed in a school shooting. She may not really have much to say about it?
