Yesterday I eagerly took delivery of my DVD box set of the Women?s World Cup 2011, I have been waiting for the tell tale ring ding dong on the door bell for more than 6 weeks.

After all women have been whacking that 32 panels of waterproofed plastic or leather since 1917 and to men the scenario seems to pose an imaginative challenge, as the Fifa president, Sepp Blatter put it way back in 2004 to promote a more female aesthetic, ?Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball (the beach variety no doubt), they could for example have tighter shorts and shirts, female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men, such as playing with a lighter ball, that decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion??..

Well as sure as night follows day or vice-versa Blatter's managed to provoke the indignation and utter outrage of every female footballer, some 30 million worldwide, which threatened to undermine the sport, comments went along the lines of ?typical of a bloke, doesn't know what he is talking about, don't use a lighter ball for one thing, to say we should play football in hot pants is plain ridiculous?....

Having said that and Messrs Kayoko and Lobbo would certainly not need a vote ....Check this out ..?Hope Jive? ........ U.S. women's team goalkeeper Hope Solo is taking part in "Dancing with the Stars"...in Blatter?s preferred attire......

Then there is the other end of the spectrum, the Iranian team barred after President Ahmadinejad insisted they play in hijab and bodysuits ... I kid you not!!!! ....

There is one glorious aspect, as that wonder summer fortnight proved; the women's game is not simply different, it is the very definition of the beautiful game, possession, passing, control and defense.
Still comparatively small in comparison to the dizzy competitive heights of the Premier League, the players don't throw childish temper tantrums with the ref, they don't make the oscar winning theatrical dives Ronaldo or Drogba are famous for, don?t fake injury, time waste or hog the ball, no shirt pulling, rival teams reside at the same hotels and even visit local pubs to watch matches together, the fans hang on the terraces and don't beat each other senseless, close matches, good football, watch out Guys our time will come.

Kayoko .....?A lot of young managers have got bits and pieces to thank [Arsene Wenger] for... I think he has the greatest of respect of all managers in this country? Graham Turner, Shrewsbury manager...

Hey, that's a double post. That's fail, Pips. Moving on, such a disastrous week this past week. After looking like a sure victory, own goals gave this match away and put Arsene Wenger more and more closer to the hot seat. Alot of the bad results can and should be blamed on Stan Kroenke who had the audacity to say such things on spending money. I think in the situation Arsenal were in, spending should've been no surprise and the most spending should've been encouraged. So should have resigning and locking down star players, in which we didnt thus this sticky spot we are at. Arsene Wenger has made the right moves after the United match, whether if it wa enough has yet to be seen, so far the results have not proven so. Normally in a fair position on the table, we are 17th...just one point above relegation zone. We are not Liverpool to have spent time down here. Why Arsene Wenger is untouchable and constantly given votes of confidence and the security of this joob being stated all throughout blows my mind. Is it possible for Ivan Gazidis to see that Wenger's theory is not cutting it in this league anymore? I admire the signings made within the last days of the transfer window, but none of the players were world class...more like a temporary relief for the loss of Fabregas and Nasri...getting Benayoun on loan shows the desperacy we were in to get in talent in midfield. And its not just the signings that have not proven themselves, they have, Gervinho and Arteta already have goals, Mertesacker gave us a clean sheet his debut and etc. The main hole I see is the second back spot. Koscielny to say the least, he has just been awful this year after a promising season last year...He said he would get some muscle to be able to survive to the likes of the bigger strikers, but he looks the same as last year and looks less physical as well...Vermaelen being hurt has surely put a big hole in that spot....

Other news on managers in the hot seat, err rather was in the hot seat. Inter Milan manager, Gian Piero Gasperini has been sacked after just five league matches...One draw and four losses prove why it was even considered, the one that set it off was the 3-1 loss to newly promoted Novara...a disgrace...the loss of Eto'o should not have proved a big loss considering they signed Diego Forlan in his place..
But see? Inter sacked their own manager after just five matches....17th place Inter were in, just like Arsenal...I don't see the difference between Gasperini and Wenger when they have the same record and have the club in the same sticky situation.

I know it?s a double, sorry, but I?m going gaga waiting for konkon (Mr K to you and I) to finish his ?twibble?, Mr K took delivery of a special ?Fat Robin? Mix , the new recipe now contains berry suet blended with a wild nut ingredient, the enhanced high oil content gives extra ?beak? energy, essential I am informed for a Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) to let out a serious mapahalakhak......Tumawa si Kayoko nang malakas, a friendly nod in the direction of the naming source, although after Saturday?s Arsenal v Blackburn I doubt whether Konkon will even raise a snort, Grandma was weeping in her dry port and sherry as Arsenal did not have a single Englishman on the park well at least gracing the starting line up, a first this season in the premier league......comments welcome Mr K..... Ho hum lol...

On to the Biggie Man U v Chelsea Sunday 18th 16:00
Man U 3 ? 1 Chelsea, this fixture was never going to be another run of the mill bore, oh no we had a perfect rendition of how Buster Kenton would have taken a penalty courtesy one Wayne Rooney. So just for the record ...

On to Chelsea, Robert Earnshaw come home all is forgiven. Roberts tin leg shuffle for Wales against England has nothing on Fernando Torres.

Let me set the scene ... With just seven or so minutes remaining twinkle toes Torres breaks through scooping a perfect Ramires pass, sliding the ball cleverly from left to right followed by a dainty skip round Man U keeper De Gea, there in front of him the Goal gaping like free willy having a yawn, and somehow Torres managed to look like Jack Sparrow dancing with Edward Scissorhands, whilst his lower limbs broke into a cross between the locomotion and chubby checker having a fit, how much !!!!??? ?50,000,000, I would insist on change from ?50....

So for Torres quote from Romeo and Juliet, ?Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow.?

Ok England 1 Wales 0....... Don?t let the result fool you, this was not a football match it was a Donkey Derby......

http://www.doddinghurstdonkeyderby.co.uk/pages/home.htm

Well Donkey?s playing football .......

Fabio Capello insists his players no longer consider him an "Ogre", however Capello must have been ?Fee-fi-fo-fum?ing? it, as Joseph Jacobs poem: ?Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman, be he alive, or be he dead, I'll grind his bones to make my bread?........... two steps forward in Bulgaria were swiftly followed by ten steps back at Wembley, I know that Mr K will be Henry Kissinger with bells and whistles, that England only needed to draw, but the grim spectacle left a very grateful Capello a get out of jail free card for Montenegro.....well in fact a draw will do the business in early October...

You know ....had it not been for Robert Earnshaw blowing a glorious chance, England would have been denied a victory, in reality Wales exceeding all expectations, on the back foot after Young's first-half goal, only to stand aghast as Earnshaw when presented with the opportunity any youth team Sunday morning willy wonker would expect to put away whilst at the same time playing conkers with his cousin just six yards out, central position, keeper gone on holiday no longer at home, all Earnshaw had to do was to tap it in, inexplicably and to England fortune, a true water into wine moment, Earnshaw developed the equivalent of tin leg attached to a club foot a perfect example of a congenital talipes equinovarus i.e.a congenital deformity involving one or both feet , when the ball appears the players ?feet? or in Earnshaw?s case ?foot? appears to rotate internally at the ankle so side-footed it over the bar to the utter disbelief of David Speed sitting head in hands and the entire Welsh team mouths gapping like Venus fly traps.

Did anybody see James Milner or Frank Lampard, no I didn?t either rumour has it both were found dead in a river, wearing England shirts and women?s knickers, fishnet stockings, suspenders, and blow up dolls big rubber wobbly love truncheons protruding from where the sun don?t shine, but its ok the Metropolitan Police have removed their England shirts to spare their families any embarrassment.......GRRRRR

Well maybe I was a little too quick to call Arsene Wenger a tight wad .....

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has broken his silence on the Gunners' deadline-day transfer spending. Manager Arsene Wenger brought in Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker but Kroenke admitted: "There's a risk of going backwards if you overreact and start throwing money around in an attempt to solve your problems."......Full story: Caughtoffside.com

And as for Chelsea .....
Sunday, 18 September 2011, Barclays Premier League, Man Utd v Chelsea, 16:00.......It?s a biggie .....

A little late on this one, Pips. But a week has gone since he transfer window slam shut last Wednesday. Alot of English clubs used the last day to bolster the squad as much as possible, but I think the real winners were Arsenal. After the 8-2 defeat to Manchester United, Arsene Wenger knew what his weaknessess were and what he needed to even have a fourth place finish. And he went out and got everyone he needed, but one, but that player I can live without. He added players in every position and particularly the midfield and with Nasri and Fabregas sold, any additions were going to help. The lack of creativity in that United match defined the core of what was lacking and a loan move for Yossi Benayoun and a buyout for Mikel Arteta saw us looking alot better in terms of creativity. Arteta really wasn't my pick to replace either of the two stars that left, but with his 5+ years of Premier League experience, his unique style of attacking, and at an older age of 29, something Arsene Wenger needed in his squad, he is an ideal fit to handle the load left for him, besides he is Spanish after all. Benayoun has loads of experience as well to relieve Arteta of these matters and with a few injury plagued seasons the past years, Benayoun is looking to redeem himself to his fans and the league around that he still has the goodies to play at this level. Adding Park Chu Young was a stable addition to help the loss of Nicklas Bendtner. And seeing he scored a hat trick against Lebanon in international duty, it looks like he can bring a really solid goal scoring prowess to the Gunners. And finally, we wanted a BIG transfer. BIG as in a monstrous transfer and Arsene Wenger for sure found what we were talking about and landed a skyscraper. Ever heard of Per Mertesacker? If you haven't, you'll see him soon enough in the Arsenal matches, he stands out.....literally. He'll use his size very well against the likes of bigger strikers around this league and will very much help our set piece defensive woes (stat sheet shows 54.9% of goals scored against Arsenal were from set pieces) Being German, they are known to be well organised and stable in intense situations. Mertesacker may very well be the reason why they are so. I'm excited, Arteta is expected to play this weekend against Swansea and it looks like Mertesacker is set to make his debut as well. Some of the players may be bench players, but its better to see some 26,27 year olds there rather than having all of them below the age of 20.

Man U 8 ? 2 Arsenal, wait a minute that's an eight, ho hum ?

I sat watching a match that resembled a sporting charge of the light brigade, a Battle of Balaclava laid bare at a park in old Trafford??

I have adapted poet laureate Lord Tennyson?s poem:

?Reds to right of them, Reds to left of them, Reds in front of them, volley'd and thunder'd, not tho' the strikers knew, someone had blunder'd... charging an army, while all the world wonder'd, when can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made!, Honour the charge they made!, Honour the Gunners, noble eleven? ..

Arsenal?s worst defeat since 1896 in Loughborough Town, poop the duvet the score line resembled a hockey score, I evoke Tennyson, because the Arsenal?s faithful fans stayed and chanted ?we love you Arsenal, we do?. ?such devotion, such defiance?shame it did not filter onto the pitch....

Wenger?s transfer policy is patently bonkers.

The Gunners need a centre-half in either Gary Cahill or Phil Jagielka however Wenger on Sunday night announced a deal was close to sign South Korean play maker Park Chu-Young. Let?s not take anything away from Park Chu-Young, a talent for sure, but hardly the Cavalry.

Oh How Arsenal miss David Dein, the director that gave Wenger a solid kick up the Jacksie to get him into action in the transfer market, moving early on targets, even if the Wenger is adopting his best tight wad impression, conversation went along the lines of:

Arsene Wenger: ?But David ?2m is far too dear?!!?

David Dein: "just buy the player you tight wad!"

Wenger harped on about lacking 11 players with ambition but ambitious clubs have strenght in depth.
It?s god given fortune that United started without Vidic or Valencia. From the off Man U ruthlessly exploiting Arsenal?s flaws clearly laid bare through the inexperience of players in key positions.

Look Arsenal had Coquelin, Traor? and Under 17 Ozyakup accompanied by French Under 21 Sunu sitting on the bench, in reserve Man U had Berbatov, Ferdinand and Giggs. There is no comparison.

It came as little surprise when Man U fans began singing to Wenger ?you?re getting sacked in the morning???..Well it is not over yet the body is still twitching?.. hold the last rites ??. Mega Hugs to Kayoko ....

Olympic 2012 .....

Remember this ?.Coe?s Speech for the press launch of the Cultural Olympiad?.

??????.Now the Reality ??read and weep ? some of the bullit points

240 VIPs will be given exclusive use of their own luxury BMW saloon, complete with a driver, while another 2,800 officials will use a pool of opulent vehicles provided free.

Along the Olympic routes all non-Olympic traffic, including private cars, lorries, buses and taxis, will have to use the bus lane. The outside lane will be reserved for Olympic officials.

Transport chiefs will remove pedestrian crossings along the route to make way for the VIP lanes.

Right turns will be banned on junctions on the route to ensure traffic does not hold up the Olympic dignitaries.

Organisers have spent ?12million of public money fitting underground sensors along the dignitaries' route which will detect congestion surrounding VIP cars and then doctor nearby traffic signals to speed them on their way.

The fleet of luxury cars will not be available to Olympic athletes who will have to use special buses and bicycles.
Motorists will be slapped with a ?200 fine if they ignore the restrictions and venture into the Games Lanes ? imposed between 6am and midnight on 30 miles of Central London roads

Well, its another clash of giants again. These matches are always the ones to watch and this one will be a big one. Arsenal v. Manchester United. United has had the advantage the past few matches but I think though we are depleted, it makes us play harder and any result other than a loss is a good one for us and very disappointing to them. Who wins? i dont know.

And since we have a depleted squad, Arsenal are looking to strenghten it. Eden Hazard is being priced at 35m, Lille reported. THe only thing now is for Arsenal to come with the money, something we have. And three players have been added to Arsene Wenger's list of players to buy before the window closes in 4 days. After a 25m windfall for qualifying for CL this week, Arsene has renewed interest in the players it looked like they were lost because of disagreement in money. Arsenal are reported to have made another bid for Gary Cahill, and are once again linked strongly for Scott Parker and Chris Samba. So excited to see these boys in the picture once again. It looked like Wenger was not going buy anyone to buy anyone, but he has shown ambition to finally win.

Mr. K it a pleasure ?.This season is going to blow your socks off ?amongst other things .....

Well it was certainly a baptism of fire for the newly promoted to the Premier League; Queens Park Rangers looked like they had been beaten senseless after a four nil kneeing in the doo dahs.

I watched this match on sky from Bolton?s Cahill superb 25-yard curved peach of a shot to Gabbidon's slotting into his own net, Klasnic's glancing third and Muamba forth, then Clint Hill doing a Zidane head butting Petrov in the chest.
QPR is owned by F1 moneybags Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, rumored to have a combined wealth of close to ?2billion, all these tight arsed twosome gave up for team investment was ?1.25m. Bernie Ecclestone?s daughters spend more on their shoes.

Ok I am going into one so let?s move onto Norwich who came away with a point at Wigan (1 ?1), it was about as exciting as watching my grandmother knitting, both teams seemed to be playing for a draw.

At least one could have some sympathy for Swansea, great for fish and chips, new promoted to the premiership and debut against money no object Man C, mind you Swansea did momentarily impress but Sergio Aguero scored twice on his first outing in a city shirt with Dzeko and Silva adding two more after rattling away at the woodwork, Man C will be the side to watch.

I am not talking about Chelsea, or Arsenal (both drew)?.I will pick that up at the weekend ?.

No I want to talk about Fabregas, the departing words ringing in Arsene Wengers ears ?who wouldn't want to play for Barcelona?, and if you happened to be Cesc Fabregas, born virtually on the steps of the Nou Camp maybe you would.

Well that depends on one perspective, the anguish Wenger must have felt at the sight of the full embrace Fabregas gave to Guardiola after taking a pay cut must have been telling, there is certainly no doubt that of all the disappointment Wenger must have felt in recent months was polarized in that one moment. I cannot imagine that anything could rival the emotional devastation implicit on Wengers face with the departure of his prot?g?. after all he had nurtured Fabregas since his 16th Birthday, it is not difficult to feel that Fabregas has betrayed the man who invested so much in the pursuit of excellence in one of football's truly great midfielders.

But a word of caution to Fabregas, I won?t even try to justify the Spanish Super Cup Barcelona 3 Real Madrid 2 as a football match Fabregas was hacked to the ground by Marcelo, a two-footed lunge, Mezut Ozil appeared to stamp on another player followed by the violent protesting by David Villa earned all three red cards. However it was the mass brawl involving both sets of players and both benches and made all feel sick. Jose Mourinho brawled openly with Barcelona assistant coach Tito Villanova as players and technical staff punched and scuffled away on the touchline.

And check this out ?. La Liga strike to go ahead as talks collapse in Spain?

Quote: The Spanish league had been scheduled to start this weekend but around 200 players in the top two divisions have not been fully paid by cash-strapped clubs, some of which are in bankruptcy protection. Players are said to be owed up to ?43m in unpaid salaries?..

WOW, its been a while eh?

Anywho, lets just start again from the top. A new season is underway. Tons of stories and sagad unfolded before our very eyes and tons of new faces have been seen entering the best league in the world. The Barclays Premier League had kicked off just Saturday and with everything that has happened, we can just expect tons of fireworks and the most exciting season yet.

Just basic news for now. Val's squad got a close but surely 2-1 win over West Brom. Recently transferred winger Ashley Young had done the pleasure in giving United their first 3points of the campaign. Good start but also bad. Centre backs, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both left the match early and are out for a while. Rio is said to be out for 6 while Vidic sits for 2. An open defense means more messups and can mean settling for draws, we'll see.
Chelsea draw to Stoke City 0-0. Plenty of shots in the match, tons of opportunities...but just couldnt find the back of the net.
And for Arsenal...most of the stories throughout the league seemed to circle around this squad. Main story has been on Fabregas who has his desire to move back to Barcelona, his home club, finally come true. He sealed a 29m pound move to the Catalan for five years. Samir Nasri also seems to be on the move as well. Constant fails in negotiations for a new long term contract has drawn interest from other high profile sides and has already made their bids...City leads the way. With that in hand, starting the season like this wasnt the best of ways. Robin van Persie finally has played in the season opener for the first time I ever seen him. Newly signed Gervinho was looking to make his mark for the Gunners....wasnt to be so. He was just seeing red. Misses the next match against Liverpool and should be available for the United match the week after. But besides all of that, for a side that was so depleted in creativity, a draw looked to be a good result. 0-0 the scoreline.
Pips, on to you. Its been a while. Lets get it going.
