Heh, yeah i know some YUI fans that did ... also, akiba is THE place to go to buy electronics and tech ... want a new digital camera? go here! will be cheaper than the states for the same model (with even newer stuff that havent been released here yet). AND if u goto the smaller shops in Akiba, you can haggle with the shop owners for even CHEAPER! $170 for a $350 camera back home? yessir~ (lack of japanese ability is on ur side as well :P) |

It's more so the crowd you find there rather than the what's available to buy. YUI fans did a pilgrimage through Fukuoka? |

hmm ... since your planning a trip to japan ...
makes me wonder why not do a 'Hikki Pilgrimage' ... ... also makes me wonder why more Hikki fans dont do it ... ive heard of YUI fans doing it ... Like track down and goto places that were in her videos etc. Toshiba-EMI is near Shinagawa/Tennouzu Isle ... Universal Japan is near Aoyama-ichome ... theres the budokan ... ASIJ ... hmm although now that I think of it most of Hikkis videos were done on sets and not on-location, werent they? And the on location ones were done outside of japan lol ... |

If your only going to be in tokyo sightseeing - get a day pass: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2017.html#ticket get the one for 1000yen for a whole day on the toei and tokyo metro lines (in my experience u dont really need the JR lines). You can just hop on and off the trains all day while sightseeing. saves more money this way over a suica/pasimo debit card, that charges you per trip. hmm, this economy one day pass used to be much cheaper - i think it was like 500 or 600 yen a couple yrs ago. Oh yeah, and here use this map: http://www.johomaps.com/as/japan/tokyo/tokyo2.html This was the best map i could find that helps you in planning where to go and how far apart things are via train routes. (as opposed to other train maps that distort the landscape completely so u cant really judge how far apart things are) |

You are reffering to the Japan Fail Pass I think! Well, if zackuradrops stays in the Tokyo area, I really wouldn't recommend it (kinda pricey :/). In case he wants to travel around to Osaka, Kyoto, etc. it may pay off though (as taking the Shinkansen is horrendously expensive... ) For further information, check http://www.japanrailpass.net/ (in case you need practical information about advantages/disadvantages, send me a message ) |

here's some advice for going to Tokyo..
Hotel: http://www.sakura-hotel.co.jp/ Sakura Hotel has really cheap hotel rooms (usually 6000-7000 yen per night) and although the rooms are quite small, they are very clean and nice. I've stayed at the Sakura Hotel in Ikebukuro and was very happy with the facilities. I'd recommend staying in Ikebukuro cause it tends to be cheaper than other places on the yamanote line (ie: Ueno, Shinjuku, Shibuya...etc) http://www.sakura-hotel-ikebukuro.com/ Another really smart thing to get as soon as you arrive in Narita airport is a suica/pasmo card. These cards are great because you simply put money on them (almost like a prepaid credit card here) and just swipe them at the train terminals and the amount is deducted automatically for the fare. These are much more convenient than having to buy a ticket each time.. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2359_002.html I've also heard that you can buy a special pass (only allowed for tourists) that allows you to ride any train during your stay. Because I've only ever been to Japan as a student, I've never been allowed to get one so I don't know the details on this..You might try asking around because I've heard its a great deal if your gonna be traveling around Japan...Anyways hope this helps a little bit...Hopefully the yen/dollar ratio won't be soo crappy when you go otherwise expect things to be pretty expensive!! |
