Shocking Spurs only had themselves to blame at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal swept aside claims from Tottenham that they were ready to challenge Arsenals supremacy and winning sequence of 20 matches.
Redknapp would have been satisfied with how his side had coped with Arsenal's attacking style of football until after 42 minutes they imploded spectacularly, van Persie reacted quickly to Bacary Sagna's cross but Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes looked almost comatose as he fumbled the ball over the line, more embarrassment was to follow for Spurs, as straight from the kick-off when Wilson Palacios lost possession to Cesc Fabregas, who ran through the heart of a almost static defense to beat Gomes. Any optimism that Spurs could claw back a two-goal lead against Arsenal was snuffed out by more appalling defending that saw Arsenal add another. I think Robbie Keane opened his mouth only to change feet as he had insisted with and ironic sense of timing that Spurs now had a squad capable of competing with Arsenal, vast areas of empty spaces where Spurs support should been were left vacant well before the final whistle, all telling the story of another day of disappointment for Spurs?.Arsenal 3:0 Tottenham Spurs. Fulham 3-1 Liverpool, what a match Liverpool reduced to nine men suffered a fifth league defeat in 11 games, after Philipp Degen and their captain, Jamie Carragher, were sent off in the space of three minutes late in the second half. Bobby Zamora gave his side the lead against the run of play, Torres brought the scores level shortly before half-time with his 10th goal in 10 games, yet once Torres was taken off obviously Ben?tez had this weeks Champions League fixture in mind, Liverpool lost their cohesion and discipline with goals from Erik Nevland and Clint Dempsey, plus the sendings off, had put the match beyond Liverpools reach, the Fulham supporters forever winding the scousers up with "We want four", adding insult to injury considering that Fulham had scored only four times in all of their previous home league games this season. Liverpool seemed to be in lalaland kidding themselves into a false sense of security I mean three minutes before half-time Ben?tez's team were level!!!!! Both red cards were justified in the current climate, as Sir Alex Ferguson would say. "If you do go in high and don't take the ball, you're going to get something happen to you??.hoho !.... Understatement! Liverpool?s Wednesday?s game in Lyon could decide the fate of their season?.Can?t wait.. Manchester United 2 : 0 Blackburn Rovers Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov scored the goals as Manchester United saw off Blackburn Rovers Blackburn continue to make a pig's ear of defending ,a sort of soccer swine flu with Berbatov's stunning goal coming out of nothing and Blackburn mustered only one attack of any consequence, United were without both their regular centre backs, but it mattered little in the overall context of the match, Rooney second was superb and a welcome three points for boss Sir Alex, and will keep Untied breathing down the necks of a rampant Chelsea, who after two successive away league defeats, can now boast two match wins against Bolton, whose dead ball style has caused problems for even the best defences. Chelsea 4 :0 Bolton Wanderers. Ancelotti said ?It was our aim to still be on top of the league when Manchester United come to play us next week?? Hold on to yer nuts the season is about to really take off ? |
