Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola have allot to be proud of after delivering a spectacle of pure magic, an undeniable masterpiece of the most delightfully beautiful example of football I have seen, in the first 30 minutes Arsenal appeared over whelmed, Barcelona were glorious and mesmerising, if it hadn?t been for Arsenals courage and Keeper Manuel Almunia who kept out the onslaught of Messi, Xavi, and Ibrahimovic as thought his life depended on it , oh but the artistry of Barcelona, their game, the passing, the pleasure of witnessing the abilities of true world class craftsman dedicated to their skills.
In the first half hour of the match Barcelona dominated taking and securing 80% of the procession, the gallantry and spirit Arsenal deployed abruptly and consistently stopped Barcelona numerous attempts to score. Ibrahimovic scored just after half time with the opener following a pass from Pique, then ten minutes later adding a second when Xavi drilled a hole between the defensive partnership of Song and Clichy. Theo Walcott pulled back a goal and assisted in the build up to the foul on Fabregas, resulting in a Red for Puyol, with the subsequent penalty scored, the drama continued to unfold watching Fabregas limp off after the penalty. What a price Arsenal have paid, Gallas out for 4 -6 weeks with a calf injury and Fabregas fearing his season is over after suspecting his leg is broken. As high profile big matches come this is the dog's doo-dahs pure and simple the persistence of Arsenal in the wake of a Barcelona who started out as overwhelming favourites to progress to the semi finals, Wenger?s final words "a great football night. An exceptional football night", was no exaggeration ....Kayoko must be sipping a very deserved Pink Lady while proudly rejoicing a magnificent achievement after Wenger and co showed such heart and raw courage. Sorry for the double post |
