Well of course it felt a derby match Val, it was a derby match. I think bad blood still runs in the veins of the Spaniards because our personally delivered beatdown back in 2002 when we beat them 5-3 in penalties. I believe this was the first meeting since the gargantuan upset, and it showed it's been a while. Not many faces were on the squad 2002 had. Spain without “hero” Hierro, and S Korea without the legendary striker Hwang Sun-Hong himself. Yes legendary. Second in international goals scored behind Cha Bum-Keun, father of german league player Cha Do-Ri. Legendary status not by that, but by what he has done in Korea and Japan. Countless 20 goal seasons for the Chunnam Dragons, and this spectacular feat. 48 goals in 51,52 matches at Cerezo Osaka. Spent two seasons for the best team in pink and still currently holds the C. Osaka club record in goals scored!!...though I fear it will be broken by Shinji Kagawa. But yea he's lengendary.
Anyways the match looked good. Koreans being scrappy as always, never letting an inch to Spain. We lost, but this match holds a bright future. We have a strong squad heading in, the best I've seen since '02, but not as stiff defensively. Stacked at midfield with Celtic man Ki Sung-Yong, and wingers, United star Park Ji-Sung and North England Bolton product, Lee Chung-Yong. Attacking is getting there. AS Monaco player Park Chu-Young has been common up front and will hold there for quite a while. The second striker is the question mark. Switches everytime lol. Well, I should be in there in 4 years so there you go. S Korea should be great in the coming years. This tells you we can compete with Europe. Oh big news!! Marcos Tulio Tanaka fractures Didier Drogba's elbow in a friendly warm-up. This now severely threatens Cote d'Ivoire's chances in this year's finals. Doctors can clear him to play as it's not that bad of a fracture, but the decision solely lies with the Chelsea striker. |
