I was asleep when most of this drama occured. For my part, I simply have to agree with Shurikid. His arguements have solid footing, and I have, too, been bothered by the heavy policing of these forums.
There is that old saying, "Boys will be boys." It's simply nature. It's a bunch of young men ogling UH. I don't see anything offensive in that thread from the participants and it seems as though my deigned efforts to allay the hostilities were for naught. Personal responsibility should definitely be the first and foremost censor here. I certainly don't see anything offensive about the thread. Yes, the title was a bit juvenille, but c'mon, we were all young. (no matter how long was that ago.. oh, my back!) Threads like that give life to the forums. Perhaps I am far to liberal with the freedoms of personal expression and I really enjoy just being silly. Shurikid has a point that I too share a vantage with. So long as it doesn't hurt anyone, it is fine. Breasts are a part of a woman's body, as is her set of eyes, her nose and her hair. The thread about her hair was met with no animosity. Can a similar thread discussing the types of cleavage that she shows and the preference of it be met with a similar mindset? Perhaps not - as our society seems to have ingrained upon us that the mammaries are taboo. Even still - with this in mind, the thread in question was not unreasonable. Nothing overly lewd was said, there were no posts of even a nearly explicit and offensive nature. Offense. Ultimately, that is the question here, isn't it? One can choose to be offended, or choose to set it aside. I don't condone turning the other cheek when being spat upon out of veheminence, but there's a level of maturity, self-responsibility and self-control that I hope that we can all emulate and practice. If the girls wanted to make a thread about say, Orlando Bloom, Ken Hirai or one of the Arashi boys and how absolutely hot their arms and boyish good looks, toned abs and butt were (etc etc) I would have absolutely no objection with that. Sexuality is a part of human nature, so long as it does not violate the TOS, I have to second the notion that the thread closure was premature and rather un-called for. The thread is not a prime example of male behaviour, but it certainly is a typical one. Kudos Shurikid, really. |
