Japanese Emperor Akihito has addressed the nation, in a rare live TV appearance he stated he was praying for the people, expressing he is ?deeply worried?, and thanked all involved in the huge international effort to provide relief and rescue to over 500,000 displaced people.
I sat glued to the early morning (4 am) BBC news programmes as the last remaining engineers at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi power plant were temporarily evacuated because of excessive radiation levels, in a race against time to avert a nuclear catastrophe, as another fire broke out in one of the reactors, billowing smoke and steam.
